Frequently Asked Questions

Who are you?

Essentially, we are a bunch of Fat Wreck Chords collectors with evidently too much time on our hands. Our mission is and always has been to create a repository of information to catalog all information available for every FAT release, ideally as it happens. A lot of information is crowd sourced, but all pressing and release details are validated properly to supplement or even correct information on the Fat Wreck Chords website. We figured it would be neat to deliver this in a tabular format, on one page and in a sensible liust format. Hence the 'Fatalog' was born.

What's with the name? Are you part of FAT?

No we are not part of Fat Wreck Chords nor are we paid or endorsed by FAT. This is a mere fan site, it makes no representation of Fat Wreck Chords or any of their bands. However we have chosen the name fatwrecked as this is what the collectors' destiny may ultimatley bewhen trying to amass all the products that the label has released in 30 odd years. Becoming fatwrecked.... AND, a big shoutout to Shaun Colón for making the domain available to us.

Who is Shaun Colón?

Well unless you have been living under a rock, he is the awesome dude behind A Fat Wreck the best Fat Wreck Chords documentary in the world. Like his page or even better buy his Blu-Ray and support that project. He is not affiliated with us but we are entirely grateful for his hard work on the documentary and enriching the FAT collectors world.

Why do this site? Surely discogs and Fatwreck already have this info?

Yes in parts, but a lot of information is not accurate or has not been updated. This site aims to fill the gaps.

How do you know the information is accurate?

We try and validate info on here by speaking with the label and also the pressing plants to get the most accurate information.

Where can I buy these records?

That is the question, we are not selling these we merely cataloging the information. There are a bunch of facebook groups like the NOFX vinyl collectors or our very own Fatwrecked group. These are very active and there is a great bunch of collectors offering trades or helping each other out. A good place to start also to ask for advice on values and fair trades/sales. Otherwise ebay and discogs....

I have seen this before, how come?

Yes this was indeed a feature of the Fatwreckwiki a great resource but sadly not as actively updated to cover all latest releases. We have been part of this great collective for a while but decided to create a leaner and less complex version of that content here.

Do you own all of these records in every variation?

More or less yes. The list of missing records is very small maybe 5 or 6.

This is a wiki. Why are there no pictures of the records?

We decided to keep pictures off the site for now. Mainly because of legal and aestetic reasons. In order to show the records, 100s if not 1000+ images need to be taken and formatted. A quick solution would be to take images of the web but it would be impossible to attribute picture credits or copyright appropriately. We also believe that a good representation would need a coherent appearance and we cannot guarantee this even if all imgaes were considered public domain (which they are not).

So no pictures...., as in like...ehm...ever?

We are not saying that, but at the same time we respect the task; and we also are mindful that images may slow this site down somewhat, we have created a nimble wordpress portfolio site on the main Fatwrecked domain . It is empty right now, but we will eventually start populating it, so stay tuned...

Is that all? No more questions?

Kinda. Ask more and we write them down here. Just drop us a line and we will invent the most logical answer available.
